Mara des Bois
Mara des Bois is everbearing variety. It fruits evenly. It is one of the most flavorful varieties, widely appreciated for its intense aroma and sweet, wild-strawberry-like taste. Recommended for hobby cultivation and home gardens.
Fruiting time: Everbearing variety. It allows harvesting for about 5 months, maintaining a consistently high yield throughout the season. Typically fruits from early June until late autumn (frosts), with a short break of around 2 weeks between late July and early August. If flowers and runners are removed at the beginning of flowering, it will start fruiting later but without any break until frost.
Fruit quality:
• Taste: very tasty fruit, very sweet, with an intense wild-strawberry aroma.
• Size: Medium-sized, smaller than popular commercial varieties.
• Shape and appearance: Very attractive. Conical or heart-shaped.
• Color: Intensevely red and glossy. The flesh is also red.
• Firmness: This variety is not very firm, which makes it suitable for fresh consumption and processing.
Productivity: High and consistent, thanks to the extended fruiting period.
Plant type: Compact, bushy, low, and not very vigorous plants.
Resistance: Relatively easy to grow and resistant to many diseases. It adapts well to European climatic conditions, although it does not tolerate long periods of drought. Prefers fertile, humus-rich soil with good drainage.
Purpose: Perfect for fresh market and processing. Also suitable for home cultivation.

Cultivation recommendations
Like all everbearing varieties, it is worth protecting it during snowless winters to prevent frost damage. Basic protection against fungal diseases (Botrytis, powdery mildew) is recommended, especially in rainy weather.
