Kent

A very good early dessert-type variety. Yields richly with large, very firm, sweet and glossy red strawberries. Perfect for cultivation in soil as well as for accelerated cultivation. Large plant adaptation abilities.
Fruiting time: Early variety, usually fruits from the beginning of June to the end of June.
Size and shape of fruits: Large and very large. Broadly-conical to heart-shaped.
Taste and firmness: Very sweet and outstandingly aromatic. Intensely red fruits, with a strong gloss and a slightly lighter colour at the cup. Very firm. Perfectly endures transport over very long distances and can be stored for a long time, even in-room conditions.
Productivity: Abundant, high yield.
Plant type: Moderately strong growth, not very compact.
Resistance: Kent has low sensitivity to gray mold (botrytis cinerea) and quite resistant to leaf diseases. Variety very resistant to low temperatures, and spring frosts. Kent should not be planted in places where strawberries and other plants from nightshade families or cucumbers were previously cultivated, because it may cause Verticillium wilt.
Purpose: For dessert cultivation. It may also be a good variation for processing due to its intense red colour.
Cultivation type: Perfect for cultivation in the soil as well as for controlled-environment cultivation. For professional cultivation as well as in gardens and plots.
*The fruiting time involves traditional cultivation in Poland (Central Europe, moist continental climate) with standard weather conditions. The exact time of strawberries fruiting depends on the local environment, weather conditions in a given season as well as cultivation methods.
